Dr. Abdulla Nazeer, a State Minister at the Ministry of Education explained in an article, appearing in the 1st August 2015 edition of Haveeru Daily, that the government has introduced BTEC Courses in “SPORTS” in anticipation of growth in demand for related jobs.
This is good news for local fitness clubs, tourism based recreation centers, national sports associations, sport clubs and schools (sports & Physical Education), as these businesses and institutions already have unfulfilled requirements. There is a shortfall in the already existing demand for a range of professionally trained staff with a sports science background.
Being an island country, the future growth in recreation will create demand in the area of aquatics, specifically learn to swim (swimming coaches) and water safety (life guards) in addition to established conventional sports, as well as fitness and tourism sector requirements.
Welcoming this boost to sports science education, we at the Male’ Fitness Club are pleased to announce a special membership package for BTEC Sports students starting off at the school level. We will also offer a special membership for those enrolled in the Advanced Certificate Course and the Sports Degree Course scheduled for 2016 at the Maldives National University. Interested students may contact the Male’ Fitness Club via telephone 300-1552 or email admin@maalefitnessclub.com.
